Project type: Residential

This project has transformed a hot, unusable back yard bereft of planting and dominated by a metal roofed garage into an enjoyable garden with a variety of spaces, experiences and plant material. The garden is well used by all the family, including the pets for play, entertaining and solitude.

The Bower, Manly
This landscape was designed in conjunction with a new house by Sam Crawford Architects. Its elevated, dramatic location overlooks Cabbage Tree Bay at the south end of Manly Beach. The coastal side seamlessly connects house and ocean and includes steps down the cliff face to the coastal walk, a cliff top terrace and retreat area, native coastal plantings and broad sitting steps for informal entertaining.
The southern, protected side incorporates two spectacular Paperbark Trees and designated habitat areas for the indigenous bandicoots. The design enables the owners to incorporate sculptural elements as focal points throughout.
